Process for EC membership
The TTCS Equity Council formation was announced in November 2019 to the entire TTCS community through email, the website and our "Turquoise Trail Tuesday" all school weekly newsletter.
We communicated by the NMPED the reasons for the initial formation of the Equity Council and sought volunteers.
The council was formed by these volunteers and those appointed by the TTCS Head administrator.
Those appointed represented the specific groups described in the YM lawsuit. (Special education, Native American students, ELL, and economically disadvantaged). The council nominated and elected TTCS elementary Principal Christie Berg to be the "Council Chairperson"
Terms
During the initial meeting volunteers were sought for those willing to be appointed as 4 year term members. The remaining members we appointed to 3 year terms.
