Middle School Core Curriculum Teacher

TTCS is expanding our Middle School, located at 6600 Valentine Way. In August, 2019 we will add a new 8th grade class of 60 students. We are hiring for Middle School teachers, where the areas of focus could be from: Language Arts, Math, Science, Spanish or Social studies.  Teacher must have the required NM licenses and endorsements to teach these secondary subjects. TESOL or Bilingual endorsements are preferred, as well as a Master’s degree.

Teacher’s Responsibilities

  • Employs effective instructional methods and materials, appropriate to the needs of the students
  • Administers standardized tests in accordance with School schedules and requirements
  • Create daily lesson plans that demonstrate clear objectives for student mastery of established curriculum
  • Provides meaningful feedback to students and parents via frequent and documented assessments
  • Coordinates delivery of instruction with other staff as required under individual learning plans
  • Fosters a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and student growth
  • Ensure a sustainable relationship with parents, pupils, school personnel and members of the public by communicating in a confidential, polite and refined manner.
  • Assume duty schedule as required
  • Seek opportunities for personal learning through continuing education offerings

Requirements

  • Teaching license from the State of New Mexico
  • Successful completion of a background check
  • Ability to create an effective working relationship with School personnel
  • Ability to meet deadlines, work on multiple projects, and coordinate details with others
  • Demonstration of effective classroom management techniques using 21st century classroom skills

School Counselor

Scheduled hours:  Monday through Friday, 7:30 am – 3:15 pm, with flexibility as needed

Reports to: Head Administrator

FLSA Status:  Exempt (salaried)

Contract Term:  Extended School Year (190 days)

Job Summary:

The school counselor position will support the Principal of the school as directed by the head administrator.  This position’s key tasks are to support and monitor the overall wellness of the student population, providing strategies to teachers, students and administrators to ensure a healthy learning environment.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS -  Essential functions include, but are not limited to:

  • This position is responsible for group training (2nd step process)
  • following up on truancy
  • homeless student liason
  • providing individual student counseling
  • leadership of the school wellness program and school safety team. 
  • Member of the school Discipline committee, maintains discipline data and oversees SAT program. 
  • Serves all grades, Pre-k through 8th grade.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with many different constituencies both orally and in writing
  • Knowledge of use of standard email software - TTCS uses Gmail.
  • Knowledge of school policies and ability to interpret and offer tools to implement
  • Keen attention to detail and ability to follow through on assigned tasks in a timely manner
  • Proven ability to foster healthy learning environment for students through proven techniques

Qualifications:

  • Requires a School Counselor license from the State of New Mexico.
  • Able to pass an FBI criminal background check

WORKING ENVIRONMENT:

  • The work is performed in and around the school campus
  • Interacts with a wide variety of people with differing functions, personalities and abilities.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • The work requires sitting, walking, standing, bending and otherwise moving about for entire work shift.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

SUPERVISORY AND CONTROLS OVER WORK

School Counselor receives day-to-day direction and specific performance requirements from the principal or head administrator.  The school counselor is required to follow School policies and procedures, and complete assigned tasks by applying acceptable standards.
