Turquoise Trail Charter School is the oldest charter school in New Mexico, serving 525 students in Pre-K to 6th grade. We are located on the Turquoise Trail (HWY 14) in Santa Fe, NM.

SUBSTITUTE TEACHER We require a substitute teaching license or regular teaching license, a PED background check, and at TTCS you must be 21 years old with at least a High School diploma or equivalent. Please review the PED requirements for a substitute teaching license on the PED licensing website at http://ped.state.nm.us/Licensure/index.html Our 2017/2018 substitute teacher pay scale is Substitute Teacher w/o BA degree - short term $84/day Substitute Teacher w/ BA degree - short term $95/day Substitute Teacher - certified teacher - short term $100/day Substitute Teacher w/o BA degree - long term $100/day after 10 days at ST rate Substitute Teacher w/ BA degree - long term $108/day after 10 days at ST rate Substitute Teacher - certified teacher - long term $116/day after 10 days at ST rate

Responsibilities:  

- Direct the learning to accomplish curriculum objectives and goals as implied in the lesson plans for projects, lessons or units assigned  

- Make use of instructional procedures and materials which are most suitable for attaining lesson goals

- Go through the attendance recording process to comply with the procedures of the school

- Ensure an orderly and tidy classroom, keep tables and chairs well-arranged and provide a clear view of learning materials

- Adhere to all procedures, guidelines, and policies followed by regular teachers in line with recommended teaching procedure

- Ensure a sustainable relationship with parents, students, school personnel and members of the public by communicating in a confidential, polite and refined manner.

- Assume duty schedule for any teacher they substitute for

Requirements:

- Substitute Teacher license or Teaching license from the State of New Mexico

- Successful completion of a background check

- Reliable transportation

- Ability to work 7:45am – 3:15pm, Monday – Thursday. 7:45am – 1:15pm Friday.

- Work is contract based, on an “as-needed” basis

- Ability to comply with written and/or oral instructions

- Ability to create an efficient working relationship with other personnel

- Proficiency in maintaining efficient classroom management skills

- Full capability to provide instruction while the regular teacher is absent

 Job Description - Teaching Positions Fall 2018.pdf 

Gifted teacher, and ELD teacher - Elementary

One 0.6-0.8 FTE position, depending on number of enrolled students, approximately 50% Gifted, 50% ELD teaching. Gifted teacher for 30-40 students, providing services 2-3 day per week in a pull-out program for multi-age groups.  Additional responsibilities that could increase the position to 0.8 or full time include ELD (Bilingual) instruction.  NM Gifted endorsement required. TESOL or Bilingual endorsement preferred.  

Full time grade 7 Educational Assistant

One position 1.0 FTE. Including with 7th grade special education students and assistant duties for principal and staff. Teacher must have the required NM licenses and endorsements to teach this secondary subjects. Fluency in Spanish language preferred.

Middle School Core Curriculum Instructor

Two positions 1.0 FTE. We will need a full time teacher to teach 6th grade math and another for 7th grade science. Teachers must have the required NM licenses and endorsements to teach these secondary subjects. TESOL or Bilingual endorsements are preferred.

 

Teacher’s Responsibilities

  • Employs effective instructional methods and materials, appropriate to the needs of the students
  • Administers standardized tests in accordance with School schedules and requirements
  • Create daily lesson plans that demonstrate clear objectives for student mastery of established curriculum
  • Provides meaningful feedback to students and parents via frequent and documented assessments
  • Coordinates delivery of instruction with other staff as required under individual learning plans
  • Fosters a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and student growth
  • Ensure a sustainable relationship with parents, pupils, school personnel and members of the public by communicating in a confidential, polite and refined manner.
  • Assume duty schedule as required
  • Seek opportunities for personal learning through continuing education offerings

Requirements

  • Teaching license from the State of New Mexico

  • Ability to meet deadlines, work on multiple projects, and coordinate details with others
  • Demonstration of effective classroom management techniques using 21st century classroom skills

Special Education Instructional Assistant - One position, full time.

Social Worker - One position, 0.6 FTE (3 days per week).

Provide ‘pull out’ and ‘inclusion’ services to students with varying needs. Requires an Instructional Assistant license from the State of New Mexico. Employs effective instructional methods, at the direction of the case manager and in the presence of a licensed teacher, that is appropriate to the needs of the students. Ensure a sustainable relationship with parents, pupils, school personnel and members of the public by communicating in a confidential, polite and refined manner. Assume duty schedule as required

The school social worker will address the psychological and social well-being of students. The social worker will facilitate communication and connection between home and school, working to remove barriers to educational success. Within the community, the social worker will help families obtain needed services. In the school setting, the social worker will provide individual and group intervention to children who are experiencing social, emotional and/or behavioral issues which interfere with academic progress ; will collaborate with truancy workers, teachers, parents and school staff to address attendance problems as well. The social worker will participate in the Individual Education Plan (IEP) process as required and will participate in problem solving throughout the prevention and intervention process.

  •  Ensure spaces are prepared for next day by taking out trash, tidying furniture, wiping surfaces and cleaning floors

  •  Wash and sanitize bathrooms, sinks and countertops, and restock disposables (e.g. soap)

  •  Report major damages and oversee repairs

  •  Secure facilities after operating hours by locking doors, closing windows and securing all areas of the campus

  •  Proven experience as custodian, janitor or in a similar role

  •  Knowledge of use and maintenance of industrial cleaning equipment and appliances

  •  Knowledge of safe disposal of chemical liquids and other hazardous components

  •  Very good physical condition and strength

  •  High school diploma is preferred but not required

  •  Ability to work 2pm – 10pm, Monday – Friday with reliable transportation
