Dear Turquoise Trail Community,
This year, to support the overall educational environment, we have been asked to limit the Talent Show to one hour-long performance, as it has been in the past. This means 22 acts will be selected, and not all acts will be able to perform onstage this year. In order to help students prepare for tryouts, parents can help them to start putting ideas together. An overall suggestion that supports acts is to make sure they have a beginning, middle and end. The rubric used to score the acts can be found at the bottom of this announcement as well.
-Signups are next week (Tuesday 2/19-Monday 2/25, in the classroom for grades K-2 at teachers’ discretion, and in music class for grades 3-6), and acts will need to know who they are working with, up to 6 people in one act (solo acts ok too), what they are going to do, and if they are using any music, what it will be. Please help your child to find appropriate material, as well as find an act that shows their talent. To see a rubric of the scoring sheet likely to be used again this year, see below.
Please note that all acts that sign up will receive permission slips. These forms need to be signed by parents/guardians of each act member and turned in to the music room no later than Tuesday, February 28th.
-Tryouts (Tuesday March 5th – Monday March 11th in music class)
The tryouts determine which acts are selected, so I am asking for help again from volunteers. Whether you have performing arts skills or just would like to be on a panel of judges, we could use your objective help in tryouts! They will be held at the following times –
-Tuesday, March 5th : 10-11:40 am and 1:10-2:50pm
-Wednesday, March 6th: 9-11:40am
-Thursday, March 7th: 8-9am, 10:50-11:40 am, 1:10-2:50 pm
-Monday, March 11th: 8-10:45am, 12:25-2:50pm
(The 22 selected acts will be notified on Wednesday, March 13th. )
-Dress rehearsal on the Wednesday after Spring Break, 3/27, in the cafeteria from 8-10
-Talent Show will be Thursday, March 28th around 1:20pm. We could use volunteers anytime that day! The show will start around 1:20pm.
If you can help at any of those times, please let us know by contacting Tami Padilla firstname.lastname@example.org
Also please feel free to email me with any questions at email@example.com
Thanks so much!
